weblinks
here is a list of places and space on the web that i really like!
click the keywords to warp around this page:
neocities, outside, social, writing, web-neighbours
neocities
eggie
a space for book, film, game and snack reviews, described as being like a digital scrapbook. i’m most fond of the regularly updated final fantasy xiv blog, and the scrolling marquees at the top of each page.
mycorrhiza
mycorrhiza’s art is really pretty! i’m a particular fan of the tiger town gallery, but also the way posts in the blog have their own accompanying illustrations. there is also a digital garden, somewhere between blog, wiki and zettelkasten, which i’m super curious to watch grow.
neocities
whenever someone updates their website on neocities, it’s common to see comments in the newsfeed to the effect of ‘i love this.’ neocities is the best.
tehuan
i really like the way this site looks, the collages and photographs overlaid with white text. there’s a sitemap, but it’s more fun to just explore around, stumbling across art and writing and zines as you go. the admin, xalli, also runs the muse ariadne writing club!
town
eerie scrolling landscape that rewards your attention. i like to hang out by the cliffs and watch the ocean waves roll in.
outside
sheldon brown
this site remains my goto for bicycle questions. the original admin has passed away but the site continues on. sheldon brown seemed like a chill guy.
social
midnight.pub
message board with quiet night cafe vibes. accessible also through gemini.
status.cafe
a place to share your current status. also has a forum!
the final outpost
a virtual pet site, in which you adopt, raise and breed hybridised critters following a cataclysmic event. i’m listing this under social, because most of the fun in this comes from seeing the beautiful creatures other people have raised, and in contributing to a shared world. visit my lab! or come visit my fanpage!
writing
muse ariadne
a low-pressure digital writing club! every week a new prompt gets posted for members to write something in response. i’m not a member myself (yet!), but i always find the prompts a great way to start a writing session.
