summer house
it is a small, square structure painted an afternoony ultramarine. four thick corner posts hold up the slanting roof. the walls come up as high as your shoulders. fabric netting has been hung in the open space between them and the roof.
the interior is dim. the walls are set with shelves filled with books, figurines and other doodads. there are wicker chairs in the corners, resting on layers of faded and frayed rugs.
the summer house exhales a breezy, seaside air. loquat trees hang their branches and leaves through the netting, and drop their fruit on the floor.
