dairy hill
a steep, grassy hill with a great old pine at its summit, from which you can see clear to the alpine ranges in the west. between this hill and the line of distant mountains is a long stretch of forest, shading from pines nearby to scrubby gums and stringybarks.
the river valley with its highway runs below and around this hill. you faintly see four-legged trigonometry markers on other nearby peaks.
the pine tree up here has a deeply ridged and pitted trunk extending to a broad canopy. you doze in the grass between its roots.
